Fort Lauderdale Fashion Week 2020 (FLLFW)
As an Influencer I had the distinct pleasure and honor to be a Guest Host for the Fort Lauderdale Fashion Week 2020 Runway Show on March 13th. The show was everything that I expected and more.
The Fort Lauderdale Fashion Week is a major fashion event that’s held annually In Fort Lauderdale, Florida and was held from March 12th -14th. The Fort Lauderdale Fashion Week is an excellent opportunity for designers from the region and beyond to meet and connect with both the media and buyers. FLLFW is the brainchild of Florentina West, a model, and entrepreneur whose vision was to provide a suitable and engaging environment for up and coming fashion designers and models to showcase their talent and designs. Florentina has succeeded magnificently in bringing this vision to life with the FLLFW as it creates an inviting atmosphere for new fashion designers, established designers and fashion students to come together and share a common love for fashion and beauty. The Fort Lauderdale Fashion Week shows have been a medium that has helped to increase awareness of Florida’s fashion as a whole and bring attention to the varying genres of fashion that is in the South Florida market.
Fort Lauderdale Fashion Week 2020 Runway Experience
The Fort Lauderdale Fashion Week kicked off with a bloggers, influencers, and buyer’s brunch on March 10th with an elaborate boxwood hedge styled FLLFW monogramed step and repeat for attendees to capture their experience at the entrance. Once inside attendees were greeted by designers with lots of clothing racks of their designs and models sharing some of those creations. In addition there was a hair station with hair stylists at the ready to answer questions and share product information. One of the highlights of the brunch was a panel discussion that included Influencers from various backgrounds and genres from across South Florida. The Influencers openly discussed the individual experiences they encountered when they started, challenges along the way, how the influencer platform has evolved, and the continued growth of Influencer engagement, outreach and marketing.
The official FLLFW pre-party was held at The W-Hotel in Fort Lauderdale on the 11th of March. On the 12th of March, the Runway opening night took place at Saks Fifth Avenue at the Sawgrass Simon Mall. On March 13th and 14th, runway shows were held at The Westin Fort Lauderdale. A diverse group of models looked glorious in designs from various new collections, including VZA by Vee, Elio Rojas, G. Destin, Hot Miami Styles, Beatrice Rose Designs, Sharon OSP, Luis Aponte, 3 emerging designers from Miami Fashion Institute and a host of other designers.
All in all, the 2020 FLLFW again showed how important it is to showcase diverse designers, models and artists as it gave them the perfect opportunity to market their products and talents. They were able to gain exposure to consumers, retailers, the media, and the general public. The FLLFW fulfilled all that Florentina had hoped for when she created the program and much more. However, this is just a tip of the iceberg of what is to come as the program continues to expand its reach and reinforce the main goal which is to make Fort Lauderdale one of the world’s major fashion capitals.
FLLFW Influencer Guest Host Experience
It was my privilege to host the Fort Lauderdale Fashion Week this year. It was a wonderful opportunity, and I had so much fun hosting the event. Aside from the fun aspect, though, I had the privilege of meeting and connecting with notable people in the fashion industry and having lots of fun discussing the FLLFW and its mission to the models and designers. I enjoyed connecting and interacting with the audience in between the show and getting feedback from them on their favorite designs and how they were feeling about the show.
There were a host of models, hairstylists, makeup artists and other individuals, and everyone was down to earth and eager to connect with other people. The hair stylist and make up artists were very accommodating in creating the looks that each model needed for the show as well as my make up and hair. We all had a wonderful time discussing fashion, the fashion industry and how we can continue to support designers in the Fort Lauderdale area. There was a lot of activity and excitement behind the scenes; with everyone eager to make the program a resounding success. We all worked together as one team to ensure the event went as planned. Hosting the 2020 Fort Lauderdale Fashion Week was remarkable, and I’ll gladly do so again if the opportunity presents itself in the future. My compliments to Florentina and her team for planning and executing a flawless event and for their continued passion in magnifying established fashion designers, up and coming fashion designers, make up artists and hair stylists in the Fort Lauderdale area.
