The Ancient Spanish Monastery Museum & Gardens Visit

The Spanish Monastery is one of the most beautiful places I have visited. I was drawn in by its peacefulness, history and beauty.

The museum was originally constructed in Spain then purchased by William Randolph Hearst in 1925, dismantled stone by stone and shipped to the USA in 11,000 crates. After years of quarantine of the crates by customs, financial challenges of Hearst family, the shipment was finally purchased by Col. Robert Pentland Jr. in 1964. It took 19 months and almost 1.5 million dollars at that time to put the Cloisters back together in what was known as the world’s largest jigsaw puzzle. The location is a popular location for weddings, photo shoots, filming of movies ad videos and other events.

Here are a few photos from my visit. I will post the second set of pictures on another blog. Hope you enjoy.
